Parasol Parade at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort

Parasol Parade at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Early rising guests at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort can enjoy a parade of over fifty parasol-toting housekeepers on Mondays and Fridays. The tradition began when the Resort first opened in 1988. The Housekeeping Team members gather at 8 a.m. at the marina and stroll through the Victorian courtyard around the pool.

Eva Brackmann and Rachel Pinne Lead the Parasol Parade at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

"This morning (October 3rd, 2011), 5-year-old cousins and resort guests Eva Brackmann and Rachel Pinne had the honor of leading the colorful procession. Joseph Brackmann, 7, captures the special moment, sure to be a special one that will not soon be forgotten."

Two Princesses Meet at the Magic Kingdom

Ava Meets Rapunzel at Magic Kingdom Park Ava Meets Rapunzel at Magic Kingdom Park Ava Meets Rapunzel at Magic Kingdom Park

"On this special morning, I photographed a darling little girl as she met Rapunzel for the very first time. Ava was nearing her fifth birthday (which she spent having breakfast with the princesses inside Cinderella Castle) and her autograph book lacked only one princess – Rapunzel. As a surprise, Ava’s parents took her to the Magic Kingdom early one morning and walked directly to Fantasyland to make sure she was first in line to greet Rapunzel. I hope these photographs speak for themselves."

Fantasyland Forever

Gene Duncan (photographer) had the privilege of experiencing the magic and beauty of Walt Disney World Resort for 36 years, usually with camera in hand. Granted, he has also had extraordinary access to areas not usually visited by Disney guests.

Five years ago, He spent an afternoon at the Walt Disney World Horticulture compound, commonly referred to as the “tree farm”, wandering through the topiary construction area. Millions of guests have admired the finished pieces inside our parks, but few have seen them before or after their days “onstage”. I love “getting lost” there when I can …

This image is one of a series noting the ultimate whimsy in truly inanimate objects. The original transparency was made using a Fuji 680 medium format camera, and then converted to black and white.

Princesses from Argentina

"These young ladies on holiday from Buenos Aires make it perfectly clear who their favorite princess (or fairy) is. Captured during a joyous day in the Magic Kingdom are, from left, Angie, Victoria, Florencia, Laura and Alexia. Life is good."
